Roasting coffee is an art form...

Some may think it’s easy. Apply heat, roast beans, good coffee. But it’s way much more than that!

The process starts at the farms. Knowing your farmers and knowing where your beans are grown play a huge part in the final product.

All beans are definitely NOT created equally.

We can say without a doubt our beans are all ethnically sourced from small producer cooperatives and family owned and operated farms, where quality is more important that quantity.

Great pride is taken in securing only the best 100% premium arabica beans from around the world.

Trust us, it totally makes a different!

Then on to the roasting. Many think you just apply heat for a certain amount of time and .... coffee. But again, it’s not that simple.

There are many new fancy coffee machines out there that with the press of a button from a preprogrammed screen you’re ‘roasting coffee’ but the art of coffee roasting is one where knowledge and experience play a huge role in the final product. And the truth is literally in the cup!

By carefully planning how much heat the bean gets during the various phases of roasting, an experienced coffee roaster can manipulate how the final cup will taste, accentuating particular characteristics, muting others, and even developing the mouthfeel and body of the beverage. A novice, on the other hand, can turn a fine green coffee into an acrid, charred mess; a pale and sour brew; or, with practice, a drinkable but unexciting cup.

To roast beans to just the right degree of doneness requires attention to smell, appearance, sound—but this is just the beginning. Getting much beyond that takes finesse. Coffee roasting is truly a skill.

Reverie Coffee is hand roasted traditionally on a manual infrared drum machine by master roaster Jonathan. The drum creates heat which transfers to the beans as they tumble. This allows the beans to roast more consistently than just applying hot air.

But the real power is in the hands of the roaster. It’s in the act of roasting that the flavors in the cup are shaped, and the promise of the green bean is fulfilled.

If you’ve drank our coffee, we know you can agree on its fresh, consistent taste and it’s all because of the knowledge, experience and love that goes into every single roast!

Handcrafted, small batch!

The way coffee should be!
